PacketStorm Communications Receives Technology and Engineering Emmy® Award

Westwood, NJ — November 15th, 2018 — PacketStorm Communication today announced that it has been honored with a Technology and Engineering Emmy® Award by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) for its work on Pioneering Development of Packet Impairment Test Generator for SMPTE ST 2022 Digital Video over IP.

The Emmy® Award recognizes PacketStorm for developing packet impairment products that emulate adverse network conditions for testing Encoders / Decoders that utilize SMPTE ST 2022 Digital Video over IP.  Jack Douglass, VP of Marketing and Business Development, PacketStorm Communications said, “We are honored to be a recipient of this prestigious award.  We developed the Impairment Test Generator after working with the VSF and JT-NM Interop groups to create realistic network test conditions for testing ST 2022 Encoders/Decoders, compliance and interoperability.   The generator has enabled the industry to precisely test Encoders/Decoders that utilize FEC (ST 2022 1/2 and 5/6) and hitless switching protection (ST 2022 6/7) utilizing standardized test conditions with specific and repeatable network faults.  “Dirty Hands” Interops, Prestaging Events and demonstrations at IBC and NAB depended on the Impairment Test Generator to provide consistent and fair testing across platforms.”

Robert Seidel, Chairman of the Technology & Engineering Achievement Committee said, “Screen actors are always cited for Oscars.  Stage performers are similarly proud of their Tonys.  Television journalists are quick to add an Emmy® to their resume – and with good reason.  We award the Technology & Engineering Emmy Award to these outstanding companies and individuals who are the ‘tool makers’ of the industry that have materially affected the television viewing experience.”

“We are thrilled that NATAS has again chosen to recognize the industry’s most innovative companies and leading technology minds at NAB Show,” said NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith. “As the world’s largest event focused on the intersection of media and technology, NAB Show is a natural fit for this prestigious awards program. We congratulate the award winners and look forward to celebrating their achievements in April.” Emmy® Awards to be Presented at Gala as part of the 2019 NAB Show.
