PacketStorm Communications Releases MOS and R-factor Measurements

Eatontown, New Jersey (September 30, 2006 )
PacketStorm Communications® announced today the release of Mean Opinion Score (MOS) and Rating factor (R-factor) measurements for their Hurricane series of network emulators. MOS and R-factor are used for subjective and objective evaluations of perceived speech quality. PacketStorm emulates the wide area network in the lab to stress test any network application or product.

ITU-T G.107 Recommendation is used to calculate the R-factor. MOS is obtained by using a converting formula on the R-factor. In addition to MOS and R-factor measurements, seven codecs have been added to the emulator including G.711, G.729, and G.722.

The Hurricane series of network emulators include the following models: PacketStorm1800E, PacketStorm2600E, Hurricane, and Hurricane II. PacketStorm IP network emulators have been the industry leaders for the past five years by providing high performance and a full set of advanced features.

MOS and R-factor measurements are available immediately for new systems or can be added to any of the systems currently installed in the field. Pricing information can be obtained by contacting the Sales Department of PacketStorm Communications at (732) 544-2434 x208 or your local PacketStorm sales representative.
