Welcome to the Packast Storm Hurricane 7 introduction.
The Hurricane 7 is an IP network emulator, also referred to as a WAN emulator or WAN simulator. This introduction will demonstrate how to create a configuration and also how to open a saved configuration.
To create a configuration is quite easy.
Move your mouse to the top of the page and click on the link icon. The first thing we need to do is address filters, so let’s select all frames. We’ll select a couple of impairments: we’ll select delay at 0 milliseconds, and we’ll select drop at 1%. Then we’ll go down below and hit OK. When we hit the green arrow to start the emulation, we’ve created a configuration and we have emulation running.
I’m going to stop that emulation, and to open a saved configuration, go to the file menu and select Open. It will ask if I want to make changes to the present one; I don’t. We’re going to select a configuration that has some data running through it. Here’s a very complex configuration, and you’ll see that there’s no traffic flowing. But when I hit the arrow button, we see traffic flowing through the emulator.
