Welcome to the Packet Storm 400e Network Emulator HMI summary. HMI is our interface to the network emulator.
The first step is to sign in as an administrator. There are three main areas of the HMI. One is the remote GUI that allows access to the network emulator through Java. The second function is file transfer. The third is account management. Additionally, there is system documentation where manuals are stored, a system event log, and security management.
Let’s start with file transfer. Here, you can see various files on the network emulator. There are two functions on the file transfer page. One allows you to upload a file by selecting a file from your PC and clicking the upload button to transfer it to the network emulator. The second function allows you to download files by selecting one from the list, which will then download to your PC and save to your download folder. File transfer enables easy movement of files between your PC and the network emulator.
Returning to the homepage, we see account management. Account management is only accessible to the administrator. This section is where accounts are set up to allow user access to the network emulator. There are differences between user and administrator accounts regarding access permissions. Account management and security settings are part of the administrator’s role.
Clicking under admin shows the option to change the password. The default password is the serial number for the admin account, but this can be changed if desired. If the password is lost, technical support must be contacted to reset it.
Returning to the homepage, the system documentation section contains three manuals, including the hypertext management interface manual.
The system event log shows activity, including who has accessed the network emulator and when.
The last section is security management. Currently, there are two profiles stored. The administrator can set different password characteristics to meet security requirements.
